10 Commandments for Pet Owners (from a pet's perspective)

1. My life is likely to last 10 to 15 years or more. Any separation from you will be painful.

2. Give me time to understand what you want from me. Don't break my spirit with your temper, though I will always forgive you. Your patience will teach me more effectively.

3. Please have me spayed or neutered.

4. Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for your kindness than mine. Don't be angry with me for long, and don't lock me up as punishment. After all, you have your job, your friends, your entertainment, and I only have you.

5. Speak to me often. Even if I don't understand your words, I understand your voice when it's speaking to me. Your voice is the sweetest sound I ever hear, as you must know by my enthusiasm whenever I hear your footsteps.

6. Take me in when it's cold and wet. I'm a domestic animal and am no longer accustomed to the bitter elements. I ask for little more than your gentle hands petting me. Keep my bowl filled with water. Feed me good food so that I may stay well to romp and play. By your side, I stand ready, willing and able to share my life with you, for that is what I live for. I'll never forget how well you've treated me.

7. Don't hit me. Remember, I have teeth that could easily crush the bones in your hand, but I choose not to bite.

8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I've been out in the sun too long, my ear may hurt, or my heart may be getting weak.

9. Take care of me when I get old. For you will grow old, too.

10. When I am old, or when I no longer enjoy good health, please do not make heroic efforts to keep me going. I am not having fun. Just see to it that my trusting life is taken gently. And be with me on that difficult journey when it's time to say goodbye. Never say, "I just can't bear to watch it." Everything is easier for me when you are there. I will leave this earth knowing with my last breath that my fate was always safest in your hands. I love you.

Lend Me a Pup

I will lend you for awhile a puppy, God said, For you to love him while he lives and to mourn him when he's gone. Maybe for twelve and fourteen years, or maybe for two or three. But will you, till I call him back take care of him for me?

He'll bring his charms to gladden you and should his stay be brief, you'll always have his memories as solace for your grief. I cannot promise that he'll stay, since all from earth return. But there are lessons taught below I want this pup to learn

I've looked the whole world over in search of a teacher true, and from the folk that crowd Life's land, I now have chosen you. Now, will you give him all your love, nor think the labour vain, nor hate me when I come to take my puppy back again.

I fancied that I heard them say: "Dear Lord Thy Will Be Done". For all the joy this pup will bring the risk of grief you'll run. Will you shelter him with tenderness. Will you love him while you may, and for all the happiness you'll know forever grateful stay.

But should I call him back much sooner than you've planned, please, brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand. If by your love you've managed my wishes to achieve, take care of every moment until he has to leave.

" I truly care about each and every one of my babies.  I was there for their birth, when they opened their eyes and when they took their first steps.  My voice is the first human voice they hear. It is very important to me that my babies go to a loving, caring, safe home. I try my best to ensure that they do. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you have about Aloha Puppies."

I lost a special friend today the kind you can't replace, and looking at his empty bed I still can see his face. I see the endless energy the big sparkling eyes, not the tired, fragile friend I had to bid goodbye. I know he's in a special place our Lord has for such friends, where meadows, fields & flowers help make them strong and whole again. I remember how he'd run to me  to play his favorite game, and how his ears would perk right up wWhen he heard me call his name. But as those precious years went by and we both aged and grew, I'd find him often slowing down but we had still so much to do. He did his guard dog duty well each time the doorbell rang, strangers surely couldn't see my gentle friend behind those fangs. I've noticed in the recent times his ears were not as sharp, where is that running ball of fur the years have shown their mark. He started sleeping next to me was this his special clue, because he felt the end was near I only wish I knew. Gonja was a special dog I know he gave his best, But as I looked deep into his eyes I knew it was time for him to rest. It will truely be a struggle I don't know how I'll face each day, I have to let him go--I know But in my heart he'll always stay. So with my very special friend I'm sending all my prayers. I know he's watching over me he'll be with me when I cry, so with one more kiss on his head I told Gonja goodbye.
